Emerald water, granite coves and the most famous marina in the Mediterranean: a Sardinia yacht charter along the Costa Smeralda and the La Maddalena Archipelago is the essence of luxury yachting in Italy. Here is how to plan the perfect week between Porto Cervo, Caprera and Corsica.
Why charter a yacht in Sardinia
The north-east coast of Sardinia combines some of the clearest water in Europe with world-class marinas and nightlife. Many of the most beautiful beaches – in the Costa Smeralda and in the La Maddalena National Park – are best reached by sea, and a private yacht lets you choose a different bay every day according to the wind.
Yachts for a Costa Smeralda charter
Our 22-metre Ferretti 700 Sea Sons welcomes up to eight guests with a crew of three. For the Costa Smeralda we also propose, through our network, larger motor yachts, superyachts, sailing yachts and catamarans, as well as a dedicated chase boat to move quickly between beaches and Porto Cervo.
Porto Cervo, the heart of yachting on the Costa Smeralda.
7-day Sardinia yacht itinerary
Day 1 – Olbia or Porto Rotondo to Porto Cervo
Embark near Olbia airport and cruise north along the Costa Smeralda to Porto Cervo, with a first swim at Capriccioli.

The iconic bays of the Costa Smeralda, with turquoise water and some of the most famous beaches in Sardinia, such as Liscia Ruja.
Day 3 – La Maddalena Archipelago
Enter the National Park and explore Spargi, Budelli and Santa Maria. The famous pink beach of Budelli can be admired from the sea, as landing is not permitted.

Swim at Cala Coticcio, one of the most beautiful coves in the Mediterranean, and visit the home of Giuseppe Garibaldi.
Day 5 – Bonifacio and the Lavezzi Islands (Corsica)
Cross the Strait of Bonifacio to the dramatic limestone cliffs of Bonifacio and the granite islands of the Lavezzi reserve.
Day 6 – Porto Cervo
A day for the beach clubs and an evening in Porto Cervo, between the Piazzetta and the marina.
Day 7 – Return to Olbia
Last swim in the Gulf of Marinella or near Porto Rotondo before disembarkation.
Porto Cervo yacht charter
Porto Cervo is the heart of the Costa Smeralda and one of the most exclusive harbours in the world. Its marina welcomes some of the largest superyachts in the Mediterranean, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda hosts international regattas such as the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup every September, and the Piazzetta, the boutiques and the beach clubs make it the social centre of the island in summer. A Porto Cervo yacht charter lets you enjoy all of this and, a few minutes later, anchor in a silent bay of Cala di Volpe or the La Maddalena Archipelago. We can arrange embarkation directly in Porto Cervo, berths in high season and a chase boat for transfers ashore.
Best time to charter in Sardinia
The season runs from May to October. June and September offer perfect sea temperatures and quieter anchorages, while July and especially August are the peak months in Porto Cervo. The north-west wind, the maestrale (mistral), can blow strongly for a few days: thanks to the many islands and bays, the captain can always find a sheltered alternative.
Embarkation ports and rules
The most convenient bases are Olbia, Porto Rotondo and Porto Cervo, all within half an hour of Olbia Costa Smeralda airport. The La Maddalena National Park has specific rules for navigation and anchoring and requires a permit: our crew takes care of it. Transfers by car, helicopter or private jet can be arranged through our concierge services.
How much does a Sardinia yacht charter cost?
Charters are quoted per week, plus VAT and an APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance), usually 30–35% of the fee, covering fuel, food, drinks and port fees. In August, mooring in Porto Cervo is among the most expensive in the Mediterranean, so planning the route matters. Contact us for a tailored proposal or build your itinerary.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Sardinia yacht charters start?
Usually from Olbia, Porto Rotondo or Porto Cervo, close to Olbia Costa Smeralda airport.
Can we visit Corsica during a Sardinia charter?
Yes. Bonifacio and the Lavezzi Islands are a short crossing from the La Maddalena Archipelago.
Can we land on the pink beach of Budelli?
No, landing is forbidden to protect the beach, but it can be admired from the sea.
Is a chase boat useful in the Costa Smeralda?
Very. A chase boat makes it easy to reach beach clubs, restaurants and Porto Cervo while the yacht stays at anchor in a quiet bay.
Can we embark directly in Porto Cervo?
Yes. We can arrange embarkation and disembarkation in Porto Cervo marina; in July and August berths should be requested well in advance.

Noleggio yacht a Porto Cervo
