Seven volcanic islands rising from a deep blue sea north of Sicily, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000, and still one of the most authentic cruising grounds in the Mediterranean. An Aeolian Islands yacht charter combines active volcanoes, black-sand beaches, whitewashed villages and anchorages you can only reach from the sea. It is also our home waters: Navawave operates from Milazzo and the Aeolian Islands every summer.

Why charter a yacht in the Aeolian Islands

Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Panarea, Stromboli, Filicudi and Alicudi are close enough to one another to visit a different island every day, yet each has its own character: glamorous Panarea, green and quiet Salina, wild Alicudi, and Stromboli with its constantly active crater. Distances are short, harbours are small and often full in high season, which is why exploring by private yacht – with a tender or chase boat for the shore – is by far the most comfortable way to discover the archipelago.

Our yacht for the Aeolian Islands: Sea Sons

Sea Sons is our 22-metre Ferretti 700, with four cabins for up to eight guests and a crew of three. She is based in the area for the summer season, so there are no long delivery passages: guests can embark in Milazzo or Marina di Portorosa, about an hour from the first island. For more freedom between islands, add a dedicated chase boat such as Sea Toy, our 45-knot Magazzù MX-14. Through our network we can also propose larger motor yachts, sailing yachts and catamarans.

7-day Aeolian Islands yacht itinerary

Day 1 – Milazzo to Vulcano

Embark in Milazzo or Portorosa and cruise to Vulcano. Anchor at Baia di Ponente for a first swim, or explore the coves and sea caves on the south side of the island before sunset.

Day 2 – Lipari

The largest island of the archipelago. Visit the old town and its castle, then anchor along the west coast near the Faraglioni or off the white pumice cliffs on the north-east side.

Day 3 – Salina

The greenest island, known for capers and Malvasia wine. Anchor below the cliffs of Pollara, the bay made famous by the film Il Postino, for one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Mediterranean.

Day 4 – Filicudi and Alicudi

The wildest islands. Explore the sea caves and the La Canna rock stack off Filicudi, then continue to Alicudi, where there are no cars and time seems to have stopped.

Day 5 – Panarea

The most exclusive island of the Aeolians. Swim around the islets of Basiluzzo, Lisca Bianca and Dattilo, anchor near Cala Junco and spend the evening ashore in the village.

Day 6 – Stromboli by night

Cruise around Stromboli and, after dark, hold position off the Sciara del Fuoco to watch the volcano’s eruptions from the deck – one of the great experiences of any Mediterranean charter.

Day 7 – Return to Milazzo

A last swim stop on the way back to Milazzo or Portorosa for disembarkation.

Best time to charter in the Aeolian Islands

The season runs from May to October. June and September offer warm sea, long days and quieter anchorages. July and August are the liveliest months, especially in Panarea, so early booking is recommended. The prevailing winds are the north-westerly maestrale and the southerly scirocco: your captain will adapt the route each day to find the most sheltered bays.

Embarkation ports

The most convenient bases are Milazzo and Marina di Portorosa, both easily reached from Catania and Palermo airports. On request, we can arrange embarkation directly in Lipari, as well as transfers by car, helicopter or private jet through our concierge services.

How much does an Aeolian Islands yacht charter cost?

A crewed charter is usually quoted per week, plus VAT and an APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance), typically 30–35% of the charter fee, which covers fuel, food, drinks and port fees and is fully accounted for at the end of the trip. The final price depends on the yacht, the season and the itinerary. Contact us for a tailored proposal, or build your itinerary online.

Frequently asked questions

One week is ideal to see all seven islands without rushing. A long weekend of three or four days is enough for Vulcano, Lipari, Panarea and Stromboli.

Can we see Stromboli’s eruptions from the yacht?

Yes. In normal conditions the volcano is visible from the sea after sunset, off the Sciara del Fuoco. The captain always follows the safety rules in force at the time.

Where do we embark?

Usually in Milazzo or Marina di Portorosa, about one hour from Vulcano. Embarkation in Lipari can be arranged on request.

Can we add a chase boat or tender?

Yes. A chase boat gives guests total freedom to reach beaches, villages and restaurants while the yacht stays at anchor.

Giorno 1 – Da Milazzo a Vulcano

Imbarco a Milazzo o Portorosa e navigazione verso Vulcano.

Giorno 7 – Rientro a Milazzo

Su richiesta organizziamo l’imbarco direttamente a Lipari e i trasferimenti in auto, elicottero o jet privato con i nostri servizi concierge.
